Forest land management activities, including silvicultural, wildlife habitat enhancement and landuse conversion practices, can introduce and/or spread invasive plants. To prevent introductions and reduce spread of invasives, land managers can incorporate invasive plant management and their responses to disturbance into the development of site management plans. By anticipating the response of individual species to scheduled practices, managers can develop plans to limit introductions and spread of invasives on the properties they manage. Identification of existing invasives, monitoring disturbed areas and proper sanitation of equipment helps prevent the introduction of new invasive and limit the spread of those existing on or adjacent to the site. This presentation reviews the impact that silvicultural and other management practices can have on invasive plants.
