Managing the frequency and distribution of invasive vegetation is critical to ecosystem balance and health. As invasive vegetation becomes established, native vegetation is out competed and wildlife diversity is reduced. Assessing the natural ecosystem and developing a management plan is important to track results and ensure long term control. Mapping, prioritizing, and planning are the key components to a successful invasive vegetation management plan. It is important to strategically set goals and follow-up on previous work. Once invasive species have been identified and located, control methods can be delegated on a site-specific basis. This presentation will address preparation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of emergent invasive species management plans, and will be supported with information and data from actual projects.
