Tennessee has 15 species of bats. With blitzes, banding, cave gating, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Wildlife Management Area inventories, State Parks All Taxa Biological Inventories, artificial roosting structure studies, and monitoring for a new disease called White Nose Syndrome, there is a great deal of bat work taking place across the state. This presentation will discuss some of the issues facing Tennessee’s bats and the people such as the Tennessee Bat Working Group that are addressing those issues. Opportunities for bat watching will also be discussed.
