When might it be appropriate to use a conservation easement to advance natural areas protection? Conservation easements are legal agreements between a landowner and qualified organization (government or nonprofit) which seek to perpetually protect the conservation values on a property. This overview will review the use of conservation easements as a conservation tool and provide a guide to resources to learn more about how to negotiate, draft, monitor and enforce easements.
